It was recently revealed that Millwall is also interested in Barry, who remains with Aston Villa but is expected to depart either on loan or permanently during the transfer window. Millwall, now managed by former Sunderland boss Alex Neil, has been linked to Barry.
Neil addressed the rumors, downplaying Millwall’s pursuit of Barry. He stated, “Louie Barry is just another player who has been recalled from his loan at Stockport by Aston Villa, which has sparked speculation with us and likely other Championship clubs. Right now, we’re not expecting anyone to join tomorrow. It’s all just speculation.”
Why Louie Barry Would Be a Great Fit for Sunderland
Barry is a versatile player, capable of operating on either wing, especially the left, as well as playing up front. Even with Romaine Mundle and Tommy Watson returning, there could be a role for Barry in Sunderland’s lineup. The same is true for Le Fee, who adds depth to an already strong midfield with players like Dan Neil, Chris Rigg, and Jobe Bellingham.
EFL expert Ali Maxwell believes Barry would be an ideal addition for Sunderland, comparing him to Jack Clarke. Maxwell said, “I think Sunderland would be a great fit for Barry. He’s the closest thing to Jack Clarke, and I believe he would thrive there.”
