BREAKING: Celtic ‘close’ to agreeing contract terms with Kieran Tierney
Celtic are close to finalizing a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.
As his contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the season, Celtic have been free to negotiate with the Scotland international, and things now seem to be progressing towards a deal.
According to Sky Sports, the Scottish champions are on the verge of agreeing to terms that will see Tierney return to Glasgow. Once the pre-contract is signed, Celtic are said to be considering the option of loaning him until the summer, to cover the remaining months of his contract at Arsenal.
During his first stint at Celtic, Tierney made 170 appearances in all competitions.
Brendan Rodgers is looking for a new left-back, as Alex Valle’s loan from Barcelona is set to end at the season’s conclusion and Greg Taylor’s contract expires in the summer.
If Tierney’s move happens before the winter transfer deadline, Valle could depart Celtic early. Italian club Como is reportedly interested in bringing him to Serie A, but any potential transfer depends on the Arsenal star making the move to Glasgow before the deadline.
