Writing for BBC Sport, Sutton noted that Everton were “quite open” in their recent loss to Aston Villa, and he expects the same defensive vulnerabilities when they face Tottenham.
While Spurs are also in poor form, Sutton believes they will have enough to secure a 3-1 victory over Everton.
“Before Sean Dyche’s sacking last week, he was criticized for being too defensive,” Sutton began. “But against Aston Villa, Everton found themselves caught between being tough to break down and pushing for a goal, which left them vulnerable. Villa really should have won by more than just one goal.”
Sutton added, “I think the same thing will happen here. Everton will be more open at home than they would be away. If they were playing on the road, they would probably be content to sit back and absorb pressure, but at Goodison Park, they might push a bit more, and I don’t think it will end well for them.”
“Although Tottenham is struggling too, it’s hard to make a case for Everton beating them. Spurs need a win badly, and this might be the boost they need, even though I’m not convinced they’ll keep a clean sheet, even against Everton.”
