Rangers Transfer Update
The Gers secured a comfortable 5-0 victory over Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup fourth round on Sunday, but attention is now turning to potential transfers in the upcoming weeks.
Allan Campbell, currently on loan at Charlton Athletic from Luton Town, has been linked with a move to Rangers. Luton Town is open to letting him go if the right offer arrives, with Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibernian also rumored to be interested.
Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron, 22, has also been connected with a January switch to Rangers. The promising talent is seen as a long-term prospect for the club, and reports suggest that negotiations are advanced, with a potential move happening soon.
In addition to incoming transfer rumors, there has been speculation surrounding Rangers players potentially leaving this month.
Vaclav Cerny, who has been in excellent form with nine league goals this season, is reportedly a target for Premier League club West Ham. However, the deal may not materialize until the summer due to complications with his current loan.
“Top-Class” Rangers Player Set to Depart
According to Football Insider, 21-year-old Alex Lowry is poised to leave Rangers in January, with League One side Wycombe Wanderers reportedly close to finalizing a deal.
Lowry’s contract at Ibrox expires at the end of this season, making this month the club’s last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for him, rather than losing him on a free transfer in the summer.
Selling Lowry now appears to be the most practical decision for all parties. Despite being described as “top class” by Rory Wilson and receiving praise from Michael Stewart, who has lauded his intelligence, technical skills, and work rate, Lowry has not featured for Rangers this season. He has made just 14 appearances for the club after coming through their youth ranks.
At 21, Lowry needs regular playing time to continue his development, but it seems he is not part of manager Philippe Clement’s plans for the future. Given that Rangers are unlikely to rely on him between now and May, selling him for a fee this month makes the most sense.
