The January transfer window still has a couple of weeks to go, but Leeds United have yet to make their first signing of the month.
Currently top of the Championship following their 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road, Daniel Farke’s side may not urgently need reinforcements.
Despite their strong position, Leeds have been linked with Aston Villa forward Louie Barry, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Stockport County in League One.
Reports suggest Leeds are interested in a loan move for the 21-year-old, who previously played for Barcelona. However, it remains to be seen whether they can finalize a deal.
Louie Barry’s Market Value
Barry is currently valued at €1.8m (£1.5m) by Transfermarkt, which might be due to his lack of experience in the higher tiers of English football.
The young forward impressed while on loan in League Two with Stockport last season, scoring nine goals in 17 appearances.
He continued his good form in League One this term, netting 15 goals in 23 matches before being recalled by Villa this month.
However, Barry has yet to prove himself at Championship level, making a move to Elland Road a potential risk for Leeds.
It may be safer for the club to focus on a more proven option in the second tier, such as Largie Ramazani.
Leeds’ Success with Largie Ramazani
Leeds signed Belgian forward Largie Ramazani from Almeria in the summer for €5m (£4.2m), and he has since shown promise in the Championship.
Described as “explosive” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Ramazani has been a standout player, despite a brief ankle injury that sidelined him for five games between October and November.
Ramazani has scored five goals and provided two assists in eight starts across all competitions.
His recent performances include two goals and an assist in his last two games, demonstrating his value to the team when fit.
Currently valued at €7.5m (£6.3m), Ramazani’s value has risen significantly since his arrival at Elland Road, making him a more valuable asset than Barry.
Given his current form and potential, Leeds may be better off focusing on developing and utilizing Ramazani’s talents on the left wing rather than bringing in Barry to further Villa’s plans.
