“Rangers and Celtic’s Scottish Cup Fate Revealed: Intense All-Glasgow Clash and Hoops Set for Showdown with Former Star

Rangers and Celtic have learned their opponents for the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Rangers will face a city rivalry at Ibrox, hosting Championship side Queen’s Park. Celtic, also at home, will take on Raith Rovers, another second-tier team, managed by former Hoops player Barry Robson.

Celtic progressed from the fourth round on Saturday, defeating Kilmarnock 2-1 in an all-Premiership tie. Rangers followed on Sunday, comfortably defeating Highland League side Fraserburgh 5-0 at Ibrox, in what was a memorable day for their opponents.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers reflected on the win: “We created plenty of chances in the game, and it should have been over by half-time. There were so many good opportunities, and we didn’t quite take them. We conceded from a defensive throw, but we reinforced our good moments at half-time and worked to tighten up. In the second half, we defended well and continued to create chances. It was important to reach the next round.”

Rangers’ boss Philippe Clement also praised his team’s progress in the cup: “Overall, it was good. In the first half, we should have scored more goals. It’s normal when you have new, young players with enthusiasm, but they sometimes lack the final decision-making. The second half was much better, and we could have scored more than five while keeping a clean sheet. It was a positive afternoon, and it was great for our academy players to experience playing in front of 36,000 supporters at Ibrox on live TV. These moments are crucial for their development.”
