However, things may change under David Moyes, should the striker stay at Everton, as clubs like Newcastle United are reportedly interested in him, with his contract expiring in the summer.
Despite the speculation, Calvert-Lewin seems to have dismissed any thoughts of leaving, expressing his appreciation for Moyes’ impact. In his first press conference as Everton’s manager, Moyes praised Calvert-Lewin, highlighting his potential as a difference-maker and expressing confidence in getting him back to his best.
After the Spurs match, Calvert-Lewin spoke highly of Moyes, stating he had enjoyed their conversations and was eager to work with him. He described Moyes as “an honest, humble man” and expressed confidence in the straightforward guidance he had received, which has given him confidence moving forward.
Calvert-Lewin has had a frustrating season, with Everton fans also finding it tough to watch at times. Dyche’s style of play often left him isolated in attack, although some feel he could have done more. However, since Moyes’ arrival, the forward has looked improved, particularly in the matches against Aston Villa and Spurs. He has had eight shots over these two games, a positive sign that he is receiving more chances.
While his finishing still lacks sharpness, it may be a result of a lack of rhythm and confidence. Nonetheless, his goal against Spurs could mark the beginning of a return to form. Former player Leon Osman recently noted that Moyes has always wanted to work with a centre-forward like Calvert-Lewin, and there is a sense that the new manager could be just what he needs.
