Mo Farah Predicts Brighton to Beat Everton at the Amex Despite Moyes’ Return to Goodison Park
Mo Farah has backed Brighton to defeat Everton at the Amex Stadium, even with David Moyes returning to Goodison Park.
Everton heads to the coast on Saturday, 25 August, aiming to build on their impressive 3-2 victory over Tottenham, while Brighton remains unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions.
The two teams have a history of high-scoring encounters in the Premier League, with no 0-0 draws in their last seven meetings. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Farah shared his thoughts on the match.
In a Premier League interview on 24 January, Farah said: “Brighton are doing really well, and now we’ve got David Moyes back at Everton. But I still think Brighton will win. I’m going to predict 3-1. Big score.”
Everton Facing a Tough Task Against Brighton?
Farah’s success at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics makes his sports predictions credible, especially in athletics, and although he has experience with Soccer Aid, Everton fans will be hoping he’s wrong about this one as they travel to face the high-flying Seagulls.
Everton has previously fought hard against Brighton, even securing a 5-1 win in 2023, thanks to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dwight McNeil, and an own goal by Jason Steele.
David Moyes will need his players to rise to the occasion following their surprise win over Spurs. A victory could see them move seven points clear of the relegation zone, a massive boost for the Toffees. Despite their recent form, with only one win in the last 10 matches, that victory over Tottenham counts for little if they can’t follow it up with another positive result at the Amex.
With goals flowing freely at Goodison Park in their last match, all eyes will be on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to deliver when facing Brighton.
