“Wilson Isidor’s Explosive Message to Sunderland Teammates After Shocking Plymouth Draw
Wilson Isidor has issued a confident call to his Sunderland teammates following the 2-2 draw at home to Plymouth Argyle.
Sunderland were held to a 2-2 draw by Plymouth on Saturday at the Stadium of Light, missing an opportunity to close the gap on the Championship’s promotion spots.
Although Sunderland were off their usual pace, Isidor and Trai Hume responded to Ryan Hardie’s opener, putting Sunderland ahead.
However, substitute Nathanael Ogbeta scored in stoppage time, denying Sunderland a crucial win and the chance to reduce the gap to the top two.
After the match, Isidor expressed disappointment, stating that the team didn’t show “enough character” and emphasized that Sunderland “cannot” afford to drop points against teams lower in the Championship standings.
“It was a tough week. It didn’t start well, but I’m focused on the present, not the past,” Isidor said. “We earned five points this week, but I believe we should have had more. I’m the first to say we can’t accept that. We should have finished with nine points.”
He continued, “Today, we didn’t show enough character. When you play against a team at the bottom of the table, you need to be more aggressive, more efficient, and we weren’t.
I hope we’ll react positively in the next match. We have the players, the quality, and the coach, so we just need to step up and show we want promotion.”
Isidor acknowledged Plymouth’s solid performance but reminded that Sunderland, as a bigger club, must perform better than any opponent. “It’s frustrating for me, especially because I didn’t see much of the ball, and we didn’t show enough character.”
When asked about the missed opportunity with Sheffield United losing 3-0 to Hull City on Friday, Isidor made it clear that Sunderland should focus on their own performance rather than others. “We can’t worry about other teams,” he said. “We need to focus on winning our duels, being efficient in both boxes, and showing the character needed to climb the table.”
Sunderland’s next challenge comes on Monday evening when they face Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. The team will look to bounce back after the disappointing result against Plymouth.
