“Rangers Red Card Drama Uncovered: Was It Deliberate Action or a Huge Mistake?
The controversial red card handed to Rangers during their 3-1 Scottish Premiership victory at Tannadice was the result of a deliberate action, according to referee Nick Walsh.
In the final moments of the match, Mohamed Diomande was dismissed after reacting angrily to a push from Dundee United’s Kevin Holt. Diomande appeared to raise his hand toward Holt, though video replays could not definitively show any contact.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has confirmed the club will appeal the decision, which Walsh upheld despite VAR recommending a review of the incident at the pitchside monitor.
Sources from the Scottish FA suggest that Walsh considered Diomande’s arm swing to be intentional, and this led him to issue the red card for violent conduct.
