“Brentford Boss Drops Bombshell: Key Defender Forced to Miss Crystal Palace Win Due to Shock Injury Setback!

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank confirmed that defender Rico Henry missed Sunday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace due to a minor injury setback.

The Bees ended a three-game winless streak in all competitions with a hard-fought victory at Selhurst Park. Bryan Mbeumo thought he had missed an opportunity to open the scoring when he hit the post, but VAR awarded him a retake after Marc Guehi was deemed to have encroached on the original spot-kick. Mbeumo converted the second chance in the 66th minute to give Brentford the lead, and Kevin Schade extended their advantage ten minutes later. Although Romain Esse pulled one back on his Palace debut, Brentford held on for back-to-back Premier League away victories, moving up to 11th place, just two points behind the top half.

Frank explained Henry’s absence, revealing that the defender had experienced a “minor” setback with a hamstring injury. Henry had recently returned from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, playing over an hour in Brentford’s FA Cup defeat to Plymouth Argyle and later coming on as a substitute in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. He was also an unused substitute in the 2-0 loss to Liverpool.

Frank expressed hope that Henry would soon be back in action, aiming to build match fitness after a long period on the sidelines.

Regarding other potential injury concerns, Frank gave an update on Christian Norgaard and Schade, both of whom were substituted during the win against Palace. “I’m pretty sure both will be fine, but we’ll see,” Frank said. “It was precautionary for both.” The pair will have a week to recover before Brentford’s next match against Tottenham Hotspur at home next Sunday.

The Bees also hope to have recent signing Michael Kayode available for the match, after he was unable to feature against Palace due to missing international clearance in time.
