“Should have been 3-0. What an excellent ball it was, never believe him for once”- Dorigo stunned by ‘excellent’ Leeds star v Coventry after what midfielder did.
Tony Dorigo has praised Ethan Ampadu for his brilliant assist in the first half of Leeds United’s Championship match against Coventry City on Wednesday.
Ampadu set up Dan James with a superb long-ball pass just after the 30-minute mark, giving James a chance to extend Leeds’ two-goal lead, which had already been secured by Joel Piroe and Jayden Bogle.
However, James’ shot was straight at the goalkeeper, leaving him frustrated with himself, as noted by Dorigo.
Despite the missed opportunity, Dorigo was highly impressed with Ampadu’s pass, calling it “excellent” during live commentary.
He remarked, “It should have been 3-0. What an excellent ball it was,” adding that James was disappointed because he had scored similar chances in the past.
Dorigo also praised James for his smart play, noting how the winger cleverly moved between defenders, a technique he had used previously, like when he set up Brenden Aaronson’s goal against Cardiff.
Leeds United, on track for a comfortable victory over Frank Lampard’s Coventry, have shown that despite criticism over their winter transfer business, they are well-positioned for promotion.
Ampadu has been a standout, solidifying the defense and delivering impressive passes like the one to James. Dorigo expressed amazement at Ampadu’s game-reading ability, calling it “brilliant.”
Though James missed the chance, his form has been strong, and he’s likely to find more scoring opportunities, especially after his standout performance in Leeds’ 7-0 win over Cardiff. There’s no reason he can’t add more goals to his tally in upcoming matches.
In other Leeds news, one pundit has been pondering the team’s actions following their dominant victory over Cardiff.
