Richarlison was forced to leave the field with an injury during the first half of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool.

Throughout much of the match, Tottenham spent most of their time defending, with a rare attacking break leading to Richarlison running down the wing and seemingly suffering yet another injury.
The Brazilian forward slammed the ground in frustration before receiving treatment. ITV commentator Sam Matterface speculated that it could be a calf problem, an area where the 27-year-old has struggled with injuries since his move from Everton.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou quickly made the decision to bring on January signing Mathys Tel for his debut after joining the club on loan from Bayern Munich just a few days prior.
Although much of the match unfolded away from Richarlison, he remained involved in the first half. Early in the game, he was caught by a firm elbow from Virgil van Dijk just below the chin. VAR reviewed the incident and determined that no red card was warranted for violent conduct, football.london understands.
Later, Richarlison was fouled again by the Liverpool captain, who offered him a hand up but pulled it away just as the Spurs forward reached out.
With Tel now on the pitch, he could see more playing time than both he and Postecoglou initially expected, especially with Dominic Solanke still sidelined. Other attacking options like Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, and James Maddison are also unavailable.
