Thanks to the hard work of the 1878s fan group, who were dedicated to creating the best possible atmosphere in Goodison’s final days, a stunning collection of FA Cup-themed banners was displayed across the Park End before kick-off.
These banners celebrated Everton’s five FA Cup victories and honored iconic Blues heroes such as Kevin Ratcliffe, Derek Temple, Dixie Dean, and even the infamous pitch invader, Eddie Kavanagh.
Instead of reflecting on the past, Everton must now focus on the future following Bournemouth’s 2-0 win. With the Cherries having triumphed in eight of their last 10 meetings with the Blues, at least Everton won’t have to face them again this season.
David Moyes, whose tenure at Everton has seen seven FA Cup exits at Goodison in 12 seasons, will surely be looking ahead to better fortunes.
