“Unplayable” has been a phrase used frequently in recent weeks, especially after Daniel Farke’s Leeds United took another major step toward securing the Championship title with a dominant 4-0 victory at Watford.
Any frustrations the Yorkshire club may have had following their dull, goalless draw at Burnley in late January were quickly dispelled by a stunning run of three consecutive wins, scoring 13 goals along the way.
After the barren stretch at Turf Moor, the floodgates opened. First, Cardiff City was overwhelmed by Leeds’ attacking force. The team may have even come close to replicating their 7-0 win over Coventry in their next match.
By the time they moved five points clear at the top of the table with their victory at Vicarage Road, the unstoppable trio of Dan James, Manor Solomon, and Joel Piroe were once again on the scoresheet.
In his post-match comments, Farke described the trio as “unplayable,” highlighting their incredible performances.

“Credit to them today. They were really unplayable,” said Farke, who is chasing a third promotion from England’s second tier. “Outstanding individual performances.”
James capitalized on a poor misplaced pass to open the scoring and then added another to reach ten goals for the Championship season with a powerful finish from a tight angle. Meanwhile, Solomon, with eight goal contributions in his last seven matches, saw his speculative 35th-minute shot deflect in.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee then set up Piroe for the final goal in stoppage time, with the graceful Dutchman finishing confidently after a brilliant solo run.
Manor Solomon Shines Light on Leeds’ Strong Defence
Solomon was quick to praise the defensive efforts of Leeds’ backline, which secured their 20th clean sheet of the season in just 32 matches. He emphasized the importance of Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle, Junior Firpo, and Illan Meslier in laying the groundwork for their attacking players to thrive.
Farke echoed this sentiment, noting that Meslier is now just five clean sheets away from matching the Championship record for most clean sheets in a 46-game season.
Farke Applauds Leeds’ Organisation and James’ Development
Farke acknowledged that Leeds’ attackers are able to shine because of their solid defensive organization and high-pressing game, which helped them win the ball in dangerous areas against Watford.
“We were able to win the ball in interesting areas and they were able to use their quality,” he said.
Despite earlier criticism of Dan James after he missed key chances at Burnley, Farke now sees James as one of the division’s most consistent performers.
“Daniel perhaps could have scored a few more [against Watford], but overall, on the counter-attack it was a really, really good performance,” Farke said. “I am a big fan of James, of his skills and his character.
There was criticism of his goals and assists [previously], but we have worked on this topic. We’ve given him a few details, and he’s always open to executing them. So all the praise goes to him.”
