“There’s process now. I think I have to respect it”- Arne Slot Reveals Shocking Reason Behind Red Card Controversy as Another Key Injury Hits Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken out for the first time since his red card in the Merseyside Derby, which saw him among four individuals sent off. Slot addressed the incident and offered an injury update on his squad.

The dramatic 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Everton resulted in a chaotic aftermath, with Slot, his assistant Sipke Hushoff, Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, and Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure all receiving red cards following the final whistle. Despite the heated end, Liverpool remains seven points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League as they prepare for their upcoming match against Wolves on Sunday.

Slot Reflects on Red Card

Slot has expressed regret over his actions that led to his dismissal, while also commenting on the added time in the match. “There’s a process in place now, and I have to respect it, so I can’t discuss the details,” he said. “The five minutes of added time ended up being eight, and emotions took over. If I could do things differently, I would. I’d make different choices next time, but as for the specifics of what was said, there’s an ongoing process that I don’t want to disrupt.”

Injury Update

Slot also provided an update on injuries within his squad, confirming that Cody Gakpo is a doubt for Sunday’s game after picking up a knock against Everton. Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton are both sidelined due to injury, while Curtis Jones is suspended due to his red card. “The new manager at Wolves (Vitor Pereira) has done a good job, and it will be a challenge on Sunday, but that’s to be expected,” Slot said.

“Trent will be training with us again, and he was expected to play around half an hour.

Gomez and Morton are out, and Gakpo is a slight doubt; I had to take him off after he got a knock.”

Moyes Comments on Slot’s Sent-Off

West Ham manager David Moyes, who reflected on his own experiences as a younger manager, shared some sympathy for Slot. “I feel for Arne because I’ve been in those situations before.

It shows how much he cares about his club and his players,” Moyes said. “We were smiling with a minute left in the game. We took a point, not three, but we also know it was a tough game, and getting anything from it felt special.”
