“25 ball losses what NONSENSE he will cause Leeds a win, should be DROP immediately”- Daniel Farke told must axe favourite after stinker v Sunderland
Daniel Farke will need to make a change at half-time if Leeds United are to secure a win against Sunderland at home on Monday night.
Leeds have controlled possession but have struggled to turn that dominance into clear goal-scoring chances at Elland Road.
To make matters worse, Sunderland took a surprise lead just before the break, with Wilson Isidor scoring against the run of play, sending the visitors 1-0 up.
Farke must be decisive at half-time if Leeds are to turn things around and clinch the three points, which would put them two points clear of Sheffield United. While the Blades still have a game in hand, Farke will certainly prefer the points to a game in hand.
He needs to address his players, as they can perform much better than they did in the first half. A key change should be to substitute Ethan Ampadu, despite him being the captain, and bring on Pascal Struijk from the bench.
While Ampadu doesn’t need to be dropped permanently, it’s clear he hasn’t been at his best in this match, and Farke can’t afford to be sentimental in this situation.
Ampadu Struggles Against Sunderland
Ampadu has been poor in this match, especially during Sunderland’s goal. While defending Isidor, he got too close to the striker, allowing the French forward to shield the ball and turn past him with ease to go through on goal.
This kind of defending is not what Farke expects from one of his most reliable players. Beyond the goal, Ampadu has had a tough time, being dribbled past twice, losing both of his ground duels, and winning just one out of three aerial duels, according to Sofascore.
His long passes haven’t been successful either, misplacing both attempts. Bringing Struijk in could help stabilize the defense and allow Leeds to attack more effectively in the second half.
