“Rangers star has just made his stance clear on leaving amid interest from Everton and Tottenham. Can’t believe the club he’s about heading to.
Everton had a relatively quiet January transfer window, with their only signing being Carlos Alcaraz, who joined on an initial loan from Brazilian club Flamengo.
David Moyes was also keen on bringing in a striker, but the club’s options were limited due to PSR restrictions.
However, come summer, Everton are expected to have a larger budget available once these concerns are lifted. This could reignite their interest in Rangers striker Hamza Igamane, who has been enjoying a breakout season in British football.
Everton had been strongly linked with Igamane just before the winter window closed, but his £25m asking price ultimately prevented a move.
Now, Igamane has addressed the speculation surrounding his future, with interest from both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, reaffirming his contentment at Rangers.
In an interview with Onze Mondial, the Moroccan forward said, “I am happy in Scotland. I spend a lot of time at home outside of training and matches. I have everything I need and want for nothing. I’m grateful to the Rangers management for providing me with such great conditions. My focus is on football and delivering strong performances. The experience here doesn’t feel too different from Morocco because the supporters show me so much love. I’m also thankful to my advisors, VV Consulting, for their professionalism and support. They gave me the opportunity to sign here, where I feel perfectly at home. Rangers is a club with a rich history, and I’m pleased with the goals I’ve scored and my strong start in Europe.”
With Igamane happy at Rangers and the club keen to retain their £25m asset, Everton could find it difficult to secure his signature this summer. The Toffees would need to break the Scottish transfer record, surpassing the £24m Celtic received for Matt O’Riley. This could make the deal too complex to complete, prompting Everton to explore other, more attainable striker options.
