An away game against title contenders and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United – the last thing the Elland Road faithful wanted to hear from manager Daniel Farke was an injury update.
In his Friday press conference, just over 72 hours before kick-off at Bramall Lane, Farke confirmed that neither Max Wober nor Patrick Bamford would be part of the traveling squad.
This news, though disappointing, wasn’t unexpected, as Bamford has been sidelined since New Year’s Day, while Wober is out until after the March international break.
However, the Leeds faithful were dealt another blow with news of a new injury concern.
Manor Solomon, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, has been one of Leeds’ standout players, contributing eight goals or assists in his last seven league appearances before Monday’s match against Sunderland.
Despite a strong performance in the 2-1 comeback win over the Black Cats, Solomon was forced off early after a hard tackle from Trai Hume.
While the winger jokingly responded on social media about the rough treatment, Farke’s update on Friday indicated that Solomon’s involvement against Sheffield United is now uncertain.

But Manor Solomon is a question mark. He has a big bruise from a tough tackle in the last match.”
Farke also confirmed that Solomon has not been able to train with the team since midweek.
The manager will assess the winger’s fitness up until the last moment before deciding whether he will travel with the squad.
If Solomon is not able to train, he won’t make the trip, and it’s likely that either Largie Ramazani or Willy Gnonto will step in for him on the left wing.
Solomon’s Fitness the Only Concern Ahead of Sheffield United Trip Farke emphasized that Solomon’s fitness is the only major uncertainty ahead of the game against Sheffield United. “He hasn’t been able to join team training in the last couple of days.
It will be a close call, but we’re hopeful he can join in tomorrow or, at the latest, Sunday. If not, he won’t be available.”
While the uncertainty surrounding Solomon’s fitness is a setback, Farke can take comfort in having a strong and deep squad to choose from.
Ramazani, who has impressed when given the chance this season, could step up and provide the same attacking threat as Solomon.
