Kristjaan Speakman may be targeting another forward, with a few names being discussed ahead of the window. One player linked to Sunderland is Aston Villa’s Louie Barry, valued at £7 million.
Alex Neil Addresses Millwall’s Interest in Louie Barry
This week, it was revealed that Millwall had joined the race for Barry, who remains with Aston Villa but is expected to leave either on loan or permanently during the transfer window.
Millwall, now managed by former Sunderland boss Alex Neil, has been linked with Barry, but Neil downplayed the rumors.
Neil dismissed Millwall’s interest, saying there are no imminent moves. He explained, “Louie Barry is just another player that has been brought back from his loan at Stockport by Aston Villa, which has sparked speculation with us and other Championship clubs.
At the moment, we’re not expecting anyone to walk through the door tomorrow morning. It’s all just speculation.”
Louie Barry: A Perfect Fit for Sunderland
Barry is a versatile player, capable of operating on both wings, especially the left, as well as playing up front. With Romaine Mundle and Tommy Watson returning, there’s likely space for Barry in Sunderland’s squad.
The same applies to Le Fee’s arrival, adding strength to an already solid midfield with players like Dan Neil, Chris Rigg, and Jobe Bellingham.
EFL expert Ali Maxwell believes Barry would be an excellent addition to Sunderland, comparing him to Jack Clarke. Maxwell said, “I think Sunderland would be a great destination for Barry.
He is the closest thing to Jack Clarke, and I believe he would thrive there.”
