“Tony Mowbray Drops Shocking Tottenham Comparison to Highlight Leeds United’s Dangerous Threat After West Brom Draw
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray compared the threat posed by Leeds United’s full-backs to that of Tottenham’s, following a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Saturday.
The Baggies traveled north fully aware they were facing the league’s top team, with Leeds leading the charge for promotion to the Premier League.
Despite the tough opposition, Albion made it difficult for the hosts and will feel they earned the point, which came after Darnell Furlong’s equalizer canceled out Junior Firpo’s early opener.
Leeds United’s Full-Backs Pose Constant Threat
One of the most positive takeaways for Mowbray was how his team responded after conceding a goal in the ninth minute, which was Firpo’s second in as many games.
The former Barcelona defender has been in excellent form this season, using his pace and direct style to add an extra attacking dimension for Leeds.
Jayden Bogle, stationed on the right, plays a similar role, with manager Daniel Farke giving both full-backs the freedom to push forward.
This was evident in Monday’s match, when Firpo scored an equalizer with a header against Sheffield United, and he repeated the feat with another header against West Brom.
Although Bogle didn’t find the net, he was a constant presence down the right, and there were moments when the two full-backs linked up in the final third.
Speaking to reporter Beren Cross, Mowbray admitted that Leeds’ tactical approach caused problems for his side, drawing a comparison to the style employed by Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou. “Not many full-backs play like theirs do.

Despite the attacking threat, West Brom held their own defensively. It was a collective effort, with wingers tracking back to help, and the Baggies also had chances on the counter.
For Mowbray, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, and the draw was a valuable point in their pursuit of a top-six finish this season.
