“Nonsense Circus”- Tom English hits out at what Jose Mourinho said about Rangers win
Jose Mourinho has not ruled out the possibility of managing Rangers in the future, following his Europa League defeat on Thursday.
The renowned manager admitted that he would be open to taking the reins in Scotland ahead of Rangers’ impressive 3-1 Europa League win over his Fenerbahce team on March 6.
With the impending takeover by 49ers Enterprises, the prospect of Mourinho managing the Govan side could become a reality if the deal goes through.
However, the idea of Mourinho taking charge at Rangers has already been sharply dismissed ahead of their impressive victory in Istanbul.
Mourinho’s Comments Mocked
BBC Sportsound’s Tom English quickly dismissed the possibility of Mourinho managing Rangers, calling the idea “absolute nonsense.”
He added with laughter that while the suggestion was entertaining, it was also “a bit of a circus” around the legendary manager.
“I would have been in that audience all day long for that,” English said, “but there’s incredible substance behind it.
Mourinho is one of the greatest managers of the last 30 or 40 years of European football.”
Rangers Unlikely to Appoint Mourinho
Rangers’ board faces a crucial decision for the upcoming season, with Barry Ferguson struggling to overcome the legacy of Philippe Clement’s tenure domestically.
The gap between Celtic and Rangers remains a daunting 16 points, and a new manager will need to make rapid progress in bridging that gap.

However, the current squad is not at the same level as the one Mourinho had during his tenure, requiring significant changes before a potential turnaround.
Revitalizing Rangers and challenging Celtic would be a monumental task for any manager, and while Mourinho could be the right fit, the costs involved might make it unfeasible, especially with the 49ers’ impending takeover.
