Bobby Kamwa Thriving at Newport County – Matching Erling Haaland’s Feat This Season
Bobby Kamwa, a 24-year-old striker, left Leeds in 2022 after his contract was terminated while the Whites were in the Premier League under Jesse Marsch.
He initially joined Burton Albion in the EFL, where he struggled to find his rhythm, scoring just five goals in 47 appearances for the Brewers.
However, after moving to League Two side Newport County in the summer, Kamwa has rediscovered his form in front of goal.
With eight goals and four assists this season, Kamwa recently scored a remarkable first-half hat-trick against Gillingham, marking his second match ball of the season.
This feat has placed him alongside Erling Haaland as one of only four players in the top four divisions to achieve such a milestone.
It’s clear that Kamwa never had a real chance to break into the Leeds squad, which is unsurprising given the high standards set during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, when the club was promoted to the Premier League.
Now playing in League Two, Kamwa is thriving in a front-three role under Nelson Jardim and enjoying his football once again.
Kamwa isn’t the only former Leeds player excelling in the EFL. Lewis Bate is captaining promotion-chasing Stockport in League One, while Max Dean has been scoring goals for MK Dons, among others.
