Everton were held to a 1-1 draw at Molineux after taking the lead in the first half.
Both teams shared the spoils at Molineux, with each side scoring in the first half. Jack Harrison gave Everton the lead in the 33rd minute, ending his goal drought after 36 appearances. However, the advantage was short-lived, as Marshall Munetsi equalized for Wolves just seven minutes later.
The draw leaves Everton in 14th place, tied on points with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and West Ham United. However, all three of these teams will play on Sunday and Monday, potentially leapfrogging the Toffees.
Jack Harrison’s Impressive Performance Against Wolves
Harrison, who spent last season on loan at Everton, earned praise for his solid stint at Goodison Park, developing a strong connection with the fans.
This led to the club bringing him back for the 2024-25 season on loan from Leeds United.
While his time this season hasn’t been as productive in terms of goals and assists, with Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil often favored over him, Harrison broke his scoring drought in the Wolves match.
Prior to that game, the 28-year-old had made 23 Premier League appearances without contributing a goal or assist.
However, his strike against Wolves helped end his dry spell and contributed to Everton’s attack. David Moyes had previously called for more from Harrison, and the player responded with a solid performance.
TNT Sports pundit Lucy Ward was particularly impressed by Harrison’s goal, commenting: “It’s a really nice ball from Jimmy Garner across to Harrison, and I think the thing that stands out for Harrison is his first touch. He did absolutely fabulous when the ball came to him.
“Everton pressed high, and Harrison’s first touch was brilliant before the ball just skidded in.”
Everton’s Relegation Fears Diminish
Back in January, Everton fans feared another relegation battle under former manager Sean Dyche, as the team struggled to secure results from winnable matches.
However, what seemed like a potentially long and difficult fight for survival has turned into a much smoother path to safety since David Moyes took charge. Dyche was dismissed after a defeat to Bournemouth in January, and since Moyes’ arrival, Everton have collected 16 points from a possible 27, with four wins and only one loss.
The Toffees now sit 16 points clear of the relegation zone, and it would take a dramatic collapse for them to fall into the bottom three. Under Moyes, the team has shown renewed energy and optimism, and the Scotsman will look to continue that momentum and guide Everton to a solid finish in what will be their final season at Goodison Park.
