Unbelievable, what a REGRET to Leeds, player sold with such amout now OUTSCORING Bogle in multiple areas”- Leeds must rue losing “superb” talent who’s outperforming Bogle in 2024/25

Leeds United are hoping to finish the season on a high and finally escape their two-year stay in the Championship under manager Daniel Farke.

Last season, Farke guided Leeds to a third-place finish, but they fell short of automatic promotion and had to go through the play-offs.

Unfortunately, they were unable to return to the Premier League, as Southampton triumphed 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley, condemning Leeds to another year in the second tier. Despite this setback, Leeds have responded strongly this season.

With just a few months left in the campaign, Leeds are sitting at the top of the table, with Farke closing in on his third Championship title as a manager.

He’s strengthened the squad in recent months following the disappointment of the previous season, and one key signing has thrived under his guidance.

Jayden Bogle’s Impact for Leeds in 2024/25

Right-back Jayden Bogle, who arrived in a £5m move from Sheffield United in the summer, has been a key addition for Leeds, bringing the quality needed to correct the errors of last season.

The 24-year-old has been essential to their success, starting 33 of the 35 league matches so far and establishing himself as the first-choice right-back.

Despite his defensive role, Bogle has contributed four goals and two assists in the Championship, matching the output of striker Mateo Joseph.

Bogle has also averaged 1.7 tackles per 90 minutes this season, showing he’s a reliable defensive option as well. This has been reflected in Leeds’ strong defensive record, which is the second-best in the division.

However, despite Bogle’s solid form, there’s one player from last season who has outperformed him in key areas, and Leeds must be regretting their inability to retain him.

The Former Leeds Player Who’s Outperformed Bogle in 2024/25

Following their play-off disappointment, Leeds lost several important players, including Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, who moved to Brighton and West Ham United, respectively.

Among those who departed was right-back Connor Roberts, who had spent the 2023/24 season on loan from Burnley. The 29-year-old played an important role, making 15 appearances after his January move and contributing a goal and an assist.

Roberts returned to Burnley after their relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2023/24 season. Since then, he’s impressed under manager Scott Parker, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 30 appearances.

While his goal contributions are just one less than Bogle’s, Roberts has excelled in several key aspects.

Roberts has averaged more progressive carries per 90 minutes, completed more take-ons, and won a higher percentage of his tackles, demonstrating his defensive and attacking quality.

His performances have been vital to Burnley’s incredible defensive record, with the Clarets conceding just 10 goals in 35 matches.

Given his form at Turf Moor, Leeds will surely be lamenting their failure to keep Roberts after his impressive loan spell.

But Burnley’s gain has been Leeds’ loss, with Roberts now helping to bolster Burnley’s promotion hopes and posing a challenge to Farke’s side as they push for top-flight return.
