Portsmouth will face Leeds United in a high-stakes Championship clash this Sunday at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has praised Leeds United as the top team in the division while issuing a warning to his own side ahead of the encounter.
The two teams will meet for the second time this season, following a dramatic 3-3 draw at Elland Road in the season opener back in August.
With just 11 matches left in the campaign, Mousinho confidently named Leeds the best team in the league but stressed that Portsmouth must not make it easy for them on their visit to the south coast.
In an interview with the club’s website, Mousinho said: “Leeds are the best team in the league – they have a huge amount of talent both on the pitch and coming off the bench.
“We’ve seen how strong they’ve been all season, with just three defeats so far.
They have an excellent record, and many people will be aware of what a threat they pose, especially with their frequent TV appearances.
“But we aim to make it tough for any team coming to Fratton Park, and we can’t afford to let them have an easy ride.”
Reflecting on the season opener at Elland Road, Mousinho added: “That game was a rollercoaster, and conceding early on was actually the best thing that could have happened. It helped us settle down and build belief.
“We could have won it after going ahead late, but equally, we could have lost given the number of chances they had.
“We’ve grown significantly as a team since then, and now we need to be solid on Sunday and establish a strong foundation to build on.”
