“Brendan Rodgers Promises Brutal Revenge on Rangers After Celtic’s Semi-Final Victory
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers promised his team will be fully prepared to make up for their New Year defeat to Rangers after they cruised to a 2-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup.
Goals late in each half from Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah secured the victory, sending Celtic into tomorrow’s semi-final draw.
Kasper Schmeichel made a crucial save to deny Kieron Bowie while the game was still goalless, but that was the only shot on target Hibs managed.
Celtic were dominant, with Hibs’ goalkeeper Jordan Smith the main reason the tie remained competitive for as long as it did.
When asked if the recent defeat at Easter Road had motivated his side, Rodgers replied: “We had to analyze it and figure out where we could improve, and we showed that right from the first whistle.
The concentration was excellent. We were competitive, aggressive, and strong—winning the first and second balls, then looking to play.”
Celtic’s 3-0 loss to Rangers at Ibrox on January 2 is still fresh in Rodgers’ mind, and he’s determined to address what went wrong ahead of Sunday’s crucial derby at Parkhead.
