Leeds continued to push for a winner as the game neared its end, but QPR held firm. That was until the 93rd minute, when Dan James was taken out on a counterattack by Koki Saito, who was shown a straight red card for the foul.
The challenge, which occurred on the halfway line, left Morrison stunned as he analyzed the footage on Sky Sports News. He said: “Once you lunge in like that, it’s definitely a red card. I don’t even think we need to bring Mike [Dean] into this—Mike would agree, it’s a red card. It’s a silly tackle. He just lunges in and catches Dan James. It’s a really poor decision.”
Though the timing of the red card had little impact on the game’s outcome, Leeds will be relieved that James escaped without injury.
Leeds Must Regain Momentum
Despite once looking destined for a Premier League return, Leeds have now won only one of their last four matches, raising concerns as the season enters its final stretch.
With the race for the top two so tight, Leeds can ill afford to slip up again. Another setback could see them relegated to the playoffs, and Daniel Farke will feel the pressure to ensure promotion. However, significant improvement will be needed on the pitch if that goal is to be achieved.
