Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly eyeing a ‘staggering’ summer move for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, according to TEAMtalk.
The Molineux club are considering the possibility of re-signing the Portugal international after this season, with uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield under manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool is said to be open to selling Jota for around £55m to help boost their transfer budget and strengthen their attack this summer.
Jota has just over two years remaining on his contract with Liverpool, which runs until the summer of 2027.
Wolves Eyeing Jota’s Return Liverpool’s Asking Price Set
TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool may be willing to part with Jota this summer, following another injury-riddled season for the 28-year-old.
He has made only 10 Premier League starts this term, scoring five goals and providing three assists in just over 800 minutes of play.
While Liverpool seems more inclined to sell Darwin Nunez, who has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, they are also reportedly open to offers for Jota, who has been hailed as ‘out of this world’ when in form, should an appropriate bid come in.
Wolves, where Jota spent three successful seasons before moving to Liverpool in 2020, are closely monitoring his situation as they aim to add more firepower to Vitor Pereira’s squad this summer.
The Molineux club believe they can persuade Jota to return, though meeting Liverpool’s £55m asking price would make him their most expensive signing in history.
Despite being on track to avoid Premier League relegation, Wolves face a challenging summer, with both Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes expected to attract interest.
Fabrizio Romano has indicated that keeping Cunha may be ‘very difficult’ due to his release clause, while Gomes is also likely to receive offers from other clubs.
