Transfer Shock: Everton Set to Complete Deal for ‘Generational’ Dutch Striker, Viewed as a ‘Phenomenal’ Talent, as Calvert-Lewin’s Exit Looms
Everton are set to make a move for Strasbourg’s prolific Dutch striker, Emanuel Emegha, with the Ligue 1 side open to selling, according to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football.
Emegha has been in stunning form at the Stade de la Meinau, scoring 11 goals in 21 appearances, and his impressive performances have attracted the attention of Premier League clubs.
His form has also helped Strasbourg push for a European spot, making him one of the hottest prospects in French football.
Everton are particularly keen on the Netherlands U21 international as they look to rebuild under new ownership from The Friedkin Group.
The Toffees are currently leading the race for the 22-year-old, but they face competition from other Premier League clubs.
Strasbourg and Chelsea’s co-owners, BlueCo, are reportedly eager to sell Emegha to get the best price.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract expiring and his potential departure looming, Everton will be looking for a new striker, and Emegha could be the ideal addition.
His direct style of play and clinical finishing would complement the team’s needs.
West Ham United and Newcastle United, who have also been linked with Calvert-Lewin, are also showing interest, but Everton are in a strong position to secure Emegha’s signature.
The Dutch forward still has three years remaining on his contract with Strasbourg, having joined from Austrian side Sturm Graz for £10.9 million last summer.
Emegha is having his best season to date in France and has impressed as the focal point of Liam Rosenier’s attack.
His omission from Ronald Koeman’s latest Netherlands squad raised eyebrows, with many, including scout Jacek Kulig, describing him as a ‘phenomenal’ talent.
David Moyes has a proven track record of getting the best out of forwards, as shown with the resurgence of Beto this season.
A partnership between Beto and Emegha could form a dynamic attacking duo for Everton as they move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season.
