Troy Deeney Suggests Dyche Could Take a Year Off After Everton Exit
Speaking on talkSPORT, Deeney discussed Dyche’s time at Everton, particularly his appearance on the radio station over the weekend.
Dyche reflected on the challenges of managing the club, and Deeney believes that the tough final season could prompt him to take a sabbatical.
Deeney commented, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Dyche wants to take a year out and enjoy himself. The last year at Everton wasn’t the Dyche we all know.
He wasn’t as robust or proactive as usual. It seemed like both he and the Everton fans had reached their limit with each other.”
“I think he might want to take some time off,” he added.
Dyche’s Criticism from Everton Fans Was Justified
While Dyche has expressed pride in his work at Everton, particularly in keeping the club in the Premier League despite financial difficulties and points deductions, he also faced justified criticism from fans.
As his tenure wore on, the performances became increasingly lackluster, and his defensive tactics – mirrored in his defensive posture during interviews – only fueled fan frustration. Many supporters felt that Dyche was out of touch with the club’s real situation.
Ultimately, Dyche seemed to recognize that his time at Goodison had come to an end, and he moved on.
It’s a good thing the change happened when it did, as it’s hard to say where Everton would be today had he stayed in charge for a few more weeks.
