Calls for Leeds United to sign a new goalkeeper this summer have intensified following Illan Meslier’s costly errors that allowed Swansea City to secure a point.
With promotion rivals Sheffield United and Burnley both winning over the weekend, the draw with Swansea left Leeds in the automatic promotion spots only by goal difference, with seven games remaining.
Meslier’s late mistake on Saturday proved costly, leaving manager Daniel Farke with a key decision ahead of Saturday’s clash with Luton Town: will he stick with Meslier, or give Karl Darlow a chance to prove himself?
Leeds are also reportedly still interested in a summer move for Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the club is actively considering signing a new No.1 to replace Meslier, and Ramsdale remains a key target.
Premier League sides Bournemouth and Newcastle United are also said to be monitoring the 26-year-old, with Bournemouth particularly keen if they fail to make Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan move from Chelsea permanent.
Ramsdale has had a tough season at Southampton, with the club likely to be relegated back to the Championship.
The Saints have had a dismal campaign, collecting just nine points from 29 matches, leaving them at the bottom of the Premier League.
It is believed Ramsdale, who moved from Arsenal to Southampton for £25m last summer, is unlikely to stay if the club is relegated, as his contract reportedly includes a relegation release clause.
