£17m release clause: Crystal Palace plotting move to sign “aggressive” star

Guehi, who piqued the interest of Newcastle United last summer before the Magpies were priced out of a deal, has remained a hot prospect.
This time, however, it’s top-tier clubs like Liverpool who are said to be monitoring the Palace star as they look to bolster their defense.
Given the season Guehi has had, it’s hardly surprising that bigger clubs are circling. After a slow start under Oliver Glasner’s management, Palace have found their best form since the new year, recently securing a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals with a dominant 3-0 win over Fulham.
But success often leads to challenges, and Palace are reportedly preparing for Guehi’s potential departure by seeking a replacement.
According to GiveMeSport, the Eagles are set to make a move for Kevin Lomonaco of RB Bragantino this summer, with the club reportedly ready to trigger his €20m (£17m) release clause.
The 23-year-old Argentine has caught the eye at Selhurst Park and could soon make his European debut. Currently on loan at Independiente, Lomonaco has played a crucial role, starting in all 11 of their Torneo Apertura matches and helping them keep five clean sheets.
While questions remain about his readiness for Premier League football, South American players of his quality have often made successful transitions to English football in the past.

Though Lomonaco might not grab the same immediate attention as other targets, he is certainly one to watch if Guehi leaves this summer, especially with a release clause set at just £17m. The defender has impressed during his time at Independiente, with PanoScout noting his “aggressive” approach in ground duels and his readiness to tackle.
With clubs like West Ham United and Wolfsburg also reportedly in the race for his signature, Palace will need to act quickly this summer. The last thing they want is to miss out on Lomonaco, only to see Guehi leave for a top club like Liverpool in the coming months.
