Nottingham Forest endured a rare home defeat, their first since November 10, following a lackluster performance at the City Ground, where they fell 1-0 to Everton.
David Moyes hailed his side’s performance as fully deserving of the win, with Abdoulaye Doucouré’s late strike securing all three points for the visitors and handing Forest their second straight loss.
The Reds looked unusually off pace on home soil, with tension in the stands reflecting the increasing pressure of the tight race for Champions League qualification. The defeat, coupled with wins for Aston Villa and Manchester City, has narrowed the gap in the standings. Villa, who defeated Forest last weekend, now sit just three points behind in fifth place.
For Everton, the result marked another strong outing away from home. Moyes was satisfied with the display, telling Sky Sports: “We definitely deserved it. We were the better team today — we had the clearer chances and thankfully managed to score late on.”
He continued: “We showed good control throughout. We’re working hard to improve in different areas — possession, creativity, and finishing — and we’re beginning to see real progress.”
Moyes also praised substitutes Carlos Alcaraz and Beto for their contributions. “Carlos made a big impact with his speed and movement, offering us something different. Beto also added another dimension. It’s great to have players coming off the bench and making a real difference like they did today.”
