Ipswich Fans’ Shocking Chant for Liam Delap at Chelsea – Will It Change His Stamford Bridge Future?

Liam Delap Boosts Ipswich With Chelsea Draw – But Could Soon Be Playing at Stamford Bridge

Liam Delap played a key role in helping Ipswich Town secure a 2-2 draw away at Chelsea, but the striker’s future may lie with the very team he faced on the weekend.

The 22-year-old, who began the match on the bench, has been strongly linked with a summer move to Stamford Bridge. Reports suggest Chelsea are eager to secure his signature before the Club World Cup kicks off.

Despite the growing speculation about his next move, Ipswich fans made their feelings clear during the match against Enzo Maresca’s side.

Ipswich Supporters Send Clear Message to Delap

Delap has quickly become a fan favorite at Portman Road since joining the club last summer. With 12 goals in 31 Premier League appearances this season, he’s been instrumental in Kieran McKenna’s squad.

It’s no surprise then that Ipswich fans are desperate to keep him. As captured by Sky Sports, away supporters chanted “10 more years Delap, 10 more years” during the game, hoping to sway the forward to stay.

However, with relegation looming, Ipswich’s chances of retaining Delap are slim. The striker is believed to have a £30 million release clause in the event of relegation, making a summer departure increasingly likely.

Premier League Giants Circle for Delap

Chelsea lead the race for Delap’s signature, but they’re not alone. Manchester United and Everton are also reportedly interested in the England U21 international.

While Everton pose less of a threat in the race for his signature, especially if Chelsea secure Champions League football, nothing is guaranteed yet. Dropping points to Delap’s current club has only intensified the pressure on Chelsea in their fight for a top-four finish.
