Jason Cundy fires dig at Leeds United live on talkSPORT after huge win against Preston

Leeds United Edge Closer to Premier League Promotion with Win Over Preston

Leeds United moved a step closer to securing promotion to the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over Preston on Saturday.

Manor Solomon opened the scoring early for the Whites, but Preston quickly responded with an equaliser from Kaine Kesler-Hayden. However, Jayden Bogle restored Leeds’ lead, and Daniel Farke’s side managed to hold on for all three points.

Their win was perfectly timed, coinciding with Sheffield United’s defeat to Plymouth. As a result, Leeds now enjoy a five-point gap over third-place Sheffield United in the promotion race.

Jason Cundy’s Quip and Pennant’s Comeback

Speaking on talkSPORT on 12 April at 18:39, Jason Cundy took a light-hearted jab at Leeds, referring to them as “dirty Leeds.” His co-host, Jermaine Pennant, playfully fired back, chanting “Marching on Together” in support of the team.

Promotion Race Back in Leeds’ Hands

Leeds had recently dropped out of the automatic promotion spots after a tough run of just one win in six games, including a disappointing loss to Portsmouth and a series of draws against QPR, Swansea, and Luton.

However, the team has bounced back with back-to-back wins—first against Middlesbrough on 8 April and now over Preston—demonstrating their resilience.

With promotion rivals Sheffield United on a three-game losing streak, Leeds are firmly in control of their own fate once again. With four matches remaining, Farke’s men are not only pushing for promotion but also eyeing the Championship title.

A crucial fixture looms on 21 April, as Sheffield United face Burnley—another clash that could play into Leeds’ hands.

As anticipation builds, Elland Road could soon be the scene of a major promotion celebration.
