Leeds United Eye Summer Move for Norwich City’s Angus Gunn
Leeds United are reportedly targeting Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn for a potential summer transfer, according to Football Insider.
The 29-year-old has yet to receive a contract extension from Norwich, meaning he could become a free agent at the end of the season.
That scenario could work in Leeds’ favor as they prepare for a likely return to the Premier League under manager Daniel Farke.
Gunn, who has earned 15 caps for Scotland, has long been on Leeds’ radar.
The club views him as a viable option either as their new number one or as a solid backup, with reports suggesting a possible shake-up in the Elland Road goalkeeping department ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Leeds Looking to Reinforce Between the Sticks
The need for reinforcements in goal has grown after current keeper Illan Meslier has made several high-profile mistakes this season, despite previously being praised by Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe as “magnificent.”
Gunn has featured in 33 Championship matches for Norwich this season, conceding 40 goals and recording seven clean sheets.
With 31 Premier League appearances under his belt from his time with Norwich and Southampton, his top-flight experience is a key factor attracting interest from Leeds.
In total, Gunn has amassed 164 appearances in the Championship. His strong 2023 campaign for Scotland, where he notched four clean sheets in seven matches and played a major role in securing Euro 2024 qualification, earned him a Player of the Year nomination.
He’s now considered Steve Clarke’s first-choice goalkeeper, with teammate Kenny McLean calling him “one of the best goalkeepers” he’s played alongside.
Gunn’s experience and form make him an ideal fit for Leeds’ ambitions as they sit atop the Championship with 91 points from 43 matches, seemingly on course to return to the Premier League and reestablish themselves at the top level.
