Leeds Fans Think They’ve Spotted a Big Hint About Junior Firpo’s Future at the Club
Leeds United supporters are buzzing online with speculation that Junior Firpo may be set to extend his stay at Elland Road.
The left-back joined in the celebrations as Leeds secured promotion back to the Premier League, partying alongside teammates and their families in the Bremner Suite at Elland Road on Easter Monday.
The squad gathered to watch Burnley defeat Sheffield United, a result that confirmed Leeds’ promotion.
After greeting the thousands of fans gathered outside the East Stand, the players returned to the pitch for team and family photos.
It was here that Firpo’s partner, Julia Torralbo, shared a photo of the Firpo family on Instagram, captioned: “Premier here we come.”
With Firpo’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season, speculation has grown around his future.
Leeds have two games left—against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle—and unless a new deal is agreed, those could be Firpo’s final appearances in a Leeds shirt.
Contract talks with players are likely underway, although Leeds may have delayed formal announcements until promotion was secured.
It’s unclear whether Firpo is among those negotiating, but his social media presence—and that of his partner—is fueling hope among fans.
The 27-year-old former Barcelona defender has been linked with a move back to Spain, where interest in him is reportedly high—particularly if he becomes a free agent. However, if he and his family are happy in England and talks go well, he may yet remain at Elland Road.
Leeds fans were quick to latch onto Torralbo’s Instagram caption as a possible clue. “‘Premier here we come’ isn’t something you say if you’re leaving… feels like he’s staying,” wrote one user on X. Another commented: “Firpo’s wife hinting at a contract renewal.”
If Firpo is to feature in Leeds’ 2025/26 Premier League campaign, a new deal will need to be signed soon.
After four years with the club, Firpo has played a key role over the past two seasons, contributing to last year’s near-miss and this season’s promotion push.
Elsewhere in the squad, several other players also face uncertain futures.
Josuha Guilavogui and Sam Byram are out of contract in June, while loanees Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell are due to return to their parent clubs, Tottenham and Bournemouth, unless permanent deals are agreed.
