Leeds Want to Sign ‘Flawless’ Star Alongside Phillips After Initial Talks

Leeds United Consider Move for Bundesliga Midfielder Julian Weigl Ahead of Summer Window

Leeds United are reportedly exploring the option of signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Julian Weigl as they prepare for a busy summer transfer window, according to MailOnline journalist Aadam Patel.

Following their return to the Premier League, the Whites are expected to be active in the market, with a goalkeeper, central midfielder, and striker all believed to be on their radar.

Among their midfield targets are Weigl and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, with Leeds aiming to bring in a seasoned presence in the heart of midfield.

Daniel Farke is said to be particularly interested in reuniting with Weigl, having previously worked with him during the 2022/23 season at Gladbach.

Patel reports that Leeds are placing a strong emphasis on experience this summer, and Weigl fits the bill.

The 29-year-old, who is set to reach the milestone of 200 Bundesliga appearances this weekend, brings with him a wealth of top-tier experience from his time at Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.

With his contract at Monchengladbach entering its final year, Weigl is believed to be open to a new challenge—potentially in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Leeds are also focused on bolstering other areas of the squad.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Tottenham’s Manor Solomon is a top target for a permanent transfer, with the Israeli winger reportedly keen to stay at Elland Road. A deal could be struck for around £15 million.

However, Leeds may face competition for Solomon’s signature, with Everton and Southampton both expressing interest following his strong Championship campaign.
