The Portuguese manager has breathed new life into the club, lifting Wolves to 13th in the table—an impressive 20 points clear of the relegation zone—after securing a sixth straight Premier League win with a commanding 3-0 victory over Leicester City.
While speculation continues to swirl around star forward Matheus Cunha and a possible move away, the Brazilian was in electric form once again, playing a decisive role in every goal on the day.
Matheus Cunha Shines Amid Transfer Talk
Despite being linked with a potential summer transfer to Manchester United, Cunha delivered another standout performance.
He opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, calmly finishing after a surging run from Rayan Ait-Nouri.
But he wasn’t done there. Cunha then turned provider, setting up Jorgen Strand Larsen for Wolves’ second, before releasing Rodrigo Gomes for the third goal, just moments after Jamie Vardy’s penalty miss.
His influence was undeniable, and he rightly earned plaudits after the match—but he wasn’t the only standout performer in gold.
Agbadou Emerges as a Defensive Rock
Since Pereira’s arrival, Wolves have tightened up at the back, conceding just three goals in April league fixtures.
Much of that defensive improvement has coincided with Emmanuel Agbadou’s rise.
Signed in January for £16.6 million from Reims, the 6’4″ Ivorian has quickly become a key figure in the backline.
In the win over Leicester, Agbadou boasted an 80% duel success rate, made five clearances, and three interceptions.
Beyond his defensive contributions, he was composed on the ball too, completing 89% of his 92 attempted passes.
Now as undroppable as Cunha, Agbadou has only tasted defeat once since breaking into the starting XI, proving to be one of the January window’s best additions.
With both Cunha and Agbadou in top form and Pereira at the helm, Wolves have gone from relegation candidates to legitimate contenders for a top-half finish.
As the season nears its conclusion, optimism is soaring at Molineux once again.
