“Pep Guardiola Reveals How Man City Escaped Second-Half Scare to Reach FA Cup Final Against Nottingham Forest
Pep Guardiola acknowledged that Manchester City had to withstand a second-half scare against Nottingham Forest to secure their place in the FA Cup final.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Rico Lewis gave City an early lead, scoring in the second minute from a Mateo Kovacic assist.
At the start of the second half, Josko Gvardiol doubled the lead with a well-timed header from an Omar Marmoush cross, ensuring City’s spot in the FA Cup final for the third year in a row.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Although City won 2-0, Guardiola admitted that Forest came out stronger in the second half, showing more dominance after the break.
However, he was pleased with his team’s resilience under pressure and their ability to secure the win.
WHAT PEPPER GUARDIOLA SAID
After the match, Guardiola told BBC Sport: “They pushed a bit more in the second half, we knew that. We lost some balls and the fatigue was noticeable.
Our experience helped us, but the bounce of the ball was difficult for both teams. We managed to hold on, and I’m really happy to be in the FA Cup final again.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MAN CITY?
City will next face Wolves and Southampton in the Premier League before meeting Crystal Palace at Wembley on May 17 for the FA Cup final.
