Wolverhampton Wanderers may be poised to take advantage of what’s beginning to look like a questionable transfer decision by Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves have seen a dramatic upturn in form, and they’ve now leapfrogged Spurs in the Premier League standings. With 41 points from 34 matches, Wolves are on an upward trajectory, while Tottenham have stumbled into a rut, now more associated with losing streaks than strong performances.
While Spurs are reportedly preparing to part ways with Ange Postecoglou—potentially to bring back former boss Mauricio Pochettino—Wolves are focused on building a future with Pereira, who’s demonstrating exactly why he has four league titles on his managerial résumé.
Wolves Interested in Former Spurs Striker Troy Parrott
According to journalist Ben Jacobs on The Wolfpack podcast, Wolves are eyeing a move for AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott. The 23-year-old came through Tottenham’s academy after arriving from Ireland in 2017 and is a well-known name among the club’s supporters.
Despite netting prolifically at youth level, Parrott only made four senior appearances for Spurs before being sold to AZ Alkmaar for £7 million last summer. At the time, Spurs deemed him not ready for first-team football under Postecoglou.
However, with 20 goals in 45 games for the Dutch side this season — including strong Europa League performances against his former club — Parrott is now attracting renewed Premier League interest. Wolves appear to be among the clubs monitoring him closely.
Notably, Parrott recently made headlines after boldly stating that he believed he was better than Dominic Solanke — the high-profile striker Tottenham signed in the same window he was let go.
Parrott Seen as Potential Matheus Cunha Successor
With Manchester United reportedly pursuing Wolves star Matheus Cunha, the Midlands club is already planning for life after the Brazilian. Parrott is viewed as a potential fit, given his ability to play both as a central striker and in deeper or wider attacking roles — much like Cunha.
Replacing Cunha won’t be easy, but Parrott could represent a smart and cost-effective solution, especially if he’s keen to prove himself back in England.
In addition to Parrott, Wolves are also targeting a midfield signing who has been on Tottenham’s radar — and are said to be ready to triple that player’s current wages to seal the deal.
