“Richard Keys Left Speechless at Goodison – Sends Emotional Message to Everton Fans

Richard Keys Reflects on Emotional Farewell as Everton Play Final Game at Goodison Park

Richard Keys was in attendance at Goodison Park on Sunday as Everton marked the end of an era with their final Premier League match at the historic stadium.

David Moyes’ side claimed a 2-0 victory over Southampton on May 18, with Iliman Ndiaye netting both goals in what was the men’s team’s last-ever fixture at the iconic venue.

Everton will begin a new chapter next season at their new home in L5, with the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium now officially partnered with Hill Dickinson.

The final matchday at Goodison featured a heartfelt send-off, and Keys shared how impressed he was by the atmosphere and organization of the farewell event.

A Memorable Goodbye at Goodison

According to Keys, Everton delivered a powerful and emotional goodbye to Goodison Park.

The beIN Sports presenter expressed gratitude to the fans for making the day special and praised the club for orchestrating such a fitting tribute.

Writing in his blog on May 19, Keys shared his emotions from the day:
“First things first, thank you to everyone in Liverpool who made my visit to Goodison so enjoyable. Actually, enjoyable might not even capture it—it was unforgettable.

There was a real mix of emotion. It’s not even my club, but I had a lump in my throat when they played Z-Cars for the final time. That moment was truly special.”

He continued: “Full credit to the club and everyone involved for creating such a well-balanced and meaningful farewell. It was perfectly executed.”

New Era Begins at Hill Dickinson Stadium Under Friedkin Ownership

Everton’s move away from Goodison Park coincides with a new era off the pitch. The Friedkin Group has taken over ownership from Farhad Moshiri, offering renewed optimism for fans.

The American-led consortium made an immediate impact by appointing David Moyes to replace Sean Dyche—a move that has already shown promise, with Moyes rejuvenating the team upon his return.

With the club now under fresh leadership, Everton supporters are looking ahead with hope.

The Friedkin Group has the potential to transform the club, especially with smart investments in the summer transfer window.

Departures have already begun, with Ashley Young, Joao Virginia, and Asmir Begovic leaving the club as of May 19. Abdoulaye Doucoure has also said his goodbyes at Goodison.

The upcoming transfer window will be crucial for assembling a squad capable of competing for domestic trophies.

Moyes, who previously led West Ham to a UEFA Conference League title, could very well guide Everton to success at their new home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
