“Moyes Breaks Silence on Alcaraz Transfer After Stunning Everton Winner

Alcaraz Shines with Match-Winner as Moyes Stays Tight-Lipped on Everton Future

Carlos Alcaraz delivered a standout performance for Everton, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over top-four hopefuls Newcastle United—but manager David Moyes remained non-committal about the midfielder’s long-term future.

The 22-year-old Argentine, currently on loan from Flamengo after beginning the season with relegated Southampton, made the difference with a deft glancing header and was instrumental at both ends of the pitch.

He forced two strong saves from Nick Pope and made key defensive blocks to deny Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes.

This was just the latest in a string of impressive displays from Alcaraz, who also scored a late winner at Crystal Palace in February and starred in Everton’s recent victory at Fulham.

The Toffees have an option to buy Alcaraz for around £12 million, and sources suggest he is keen to remain at Goodison Park. Whether his performance at St James’ Park was enough to sway Moyes remains unclear.

Speaking after the match, Moyes praised the midfielder, saying: “He scored a good goal and did a lot of good things for us today… he did well.” When asked by the ECHO if Alcaraz had secured his place in Everton’s plans, he replied: “Well, you’ll need to wait and see like everybody else.”

Alcaraz was one of 10 players in the matchday squad whose future at the club is uncertain. Among those known to be leaving, Ashley Young played a vital role in keeping a clean sheet, while Abdoulaye Doucouré came off the bench to bid farewell to the supporters.

More updates on Everton’s out-of-contract players are expected in the coming days, with several announcements likely early in the week.
