Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos in a deal that could see Marc Guehi move in the opposite direction this summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.
Guehi Could Be On His Way Out
Earlier this year, Palace turned down a £70 million offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Guehi, a move that seemed justified after the club’s stunning FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
Despite his importance to the team, Guehi has yet to agree to a new contract, and with just over a month left on his current deal, Palace may look to cash in while they still can.
The 24-year-old centre-back is reportedly open to talks with Tottenham, who have qualified for next season’s Champions League.
A return to Chelsea, his former club, is also on the cards, with a potential £60 million move being discussed.
Santos Targeted in Swap or Purchase
According to Nixon, Palace are now keen on Chelsea’s Andrey Santos, who could be included in a swap deal for Guehi.
The South London club would ideally prefer to sign the Brazilian midfielder for a straight fee, and Chelsea are open to selling him for around £20 million. However, a player exchange deal remains a possibility.
Santos Impressing After Loan Spell
Although Santos has yet to feature for Chelsea’s first team, he has significantly developed during his loan at Strasbourg.
The 21-year-old contributed ten goals and four assists in Ligue 1 during the 2024–25 season, and his high defensive work rate, particularly his tackling numbers, has also drawn attention.
Known for his all-action style, Santos was recently praised by football scout Jacek Kulig, who dubbed him a “one-man war machine in midfield.”
Palace’s Summer Ambitions
As manager Oliver Glasner looks to strengthen the squad for a potential Europa League campaign next season, Santos could be a valuable addition.
However, Palace would be wise to demand a substantial fee or package in return if they’re to let their captain Guehi leave as part of the deal.
