Newcastle United Renew Interest in Crystal Palace Defender Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi is once again on Newcastle United’s transfer radar following Crystal Palace’s recent FA Cup triumph.
Despite the success, Guehi’s future at Selhurst Park remains uncertain, and Newcastle are prepared to reignite their pursuit of the 24-year-old defender.
Newcastle previously attempted to sign Guehi in the summer of 2024 but fell short.
This time, the club finds itself in a much stronger position — both financially under Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) and competitively, with Champions League football to offer.
Crystal Palace Face Key Decision Over Guehi
While Crystal Palace will not let Guehi go without a significant fee, the club is under increasing pressure to make a decision.
The England international’s contract runs until 2026, and with no extension currently in sight, Palace must choose between cashing in this summer or risking losing him for nothing in 18 months.
Speaking at a public event covered by Sky Sports, Palace manager Oliver Glasner addressed the transfer speculation surrounding several key players, including Guehi.
While he avoided naming specific individuals, Glasner made it clear that a mass exodus isn’t on the cards.
“I don’t want to comment on individual players,” he said. “We could talk about Marc Guehi, Dean Henderson, Adam Wharton, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Ismaïla Sarr, who all had an incredible season. We won’t sell all of them.”
Newcastle Face Tough Competition for Guehi’s Signature
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is eager to bring in new signings early in the window, particularly after going through the entire 2023–24 season without a first-team addition.
Guehi remains high on the wish list, but securing his signature won’t be straightforward.
Newcastle aren’t the only club tracking the centre-back. European giants Real Madrid are reportedly interested and may look to sign Guehi on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2026. Competing with that level of interest could prove to be a significant challenge.
Still, Newcastle will be hopeful that their improved financial standing and European football offer a compelling package to tempt Guehi north this summer.
