West Ham United are reportedly positioning themselves to rival top European clubs in the race to sign Stuttgart’s rising star Nick Woltemade, with the young German striker firmly on their radar ahead of a potential summer move aimed at strengthening Graham Potter’s attacking options.
Following a disappointing Premier League campaign—where the Hammers managed just 43 points from 38 games and flirted with relegation late in the season—an overhaul is expected at the London Stadium.
West Ham finished with one of the league’s weakest records both in goals scored and conceded, highlighting the need for reinforcements at both ends of the pitch.
Woltemade on West Ham’s Watchlist
According to CaughtOffside, West Ham are “keeping a close eye” on Woltemade, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga.
The 6ft 6in forward scored 17 goals and registered three assists across all competitions, quickly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most in-demand young talents.
Signed by Stuttgart from Werder Bremen at the beginning of the season, Woltemade has not only become a key figure at the club but also earned a call-up to the German national team ahead of this summer’s Nations League semi-finals.
His rapid rise has prompted interest from multiple clubs across the continent.
Stuttgart are reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of €45–50 million (£37.7m–£42m), although the club would ideally prefer to retain the 23-year-old for at least another season.
The Bundesliga side are coming off a strong campaign that included a top-half finish and a DFB-Pokal triumph, which secured them back-to-back appearances in the Europa League.
West Ham Could Move to Replace Fullkrug
With questions surrounding the future of Niclas Füllkrug—who was brought in last summer but has struggled with injuries and inconsistency—West Ham may view Woltemade as a long-term upgrade.
Bringing in the in-form German could inject much-needed dynamism and goal threat into an attack that faltered throughout the 2023/24 season.
