Carlos Alcaraz Completes Permanent Switch to Everton
Everton have confirmed the permanent signing of Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo, following a successful loan spell during the second half of the 2024–25 season.
Nicknamed “Charly,” the 22-year-old joined the Toffees on loan during the winter transfer deadline and made an instant impact at Goodison Park. Everton have now triggered the purchase option in his contract, with the transfer fee reported to be around €15 million (£12.6 million). Alcaraz has signed a two-year deal, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.
The deal marks Everton’s first signing of the summer under returning manager David Moyes, and more additions are expected ahead of the club’s transition to their new home at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Alcaraz made 15 Premier League appearances for Everton — seven of them starts — and recorded two goals and three assists. His goals were crucial: a winner against Crystal Palace in February and the lone goal in a season-closing victory at Newcastle United, helping Everton secure a 13th-place finish and steer clear of relegation.
Before his move to Merseyside, Alcaraz had a brief stint at Flamengo, contributing three goals and two assists in 19 matches and helping the club win the Copa do Brasil in August. He began his career at Racing Club in Argentina before moving to Southampton in January 2023, where he debuted against Everton. A loan move to Juventus followed in early 2024, and he helped them win the Coppa Italia.

Alcaraz’s signing comes at a time of uncertainty for several Everton players. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Michael Keane, and Idrissa Gueye are all out of contract this summer. While Gueye is reportedly close to agreeing an extension, the futures of Calvert-Lewin and Keane remain unclear.
