Borussia Dortmund are poised to finalize a deal for Jobe Bellingham in the next few days, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reveals that Bellingham has already agreed to personal terms for a move to Signal Iduna Park and is set to sign a five-year contract once the two clubs settle on a transfer fee.
The Bundesliga side intensified their pursuit of the Sunderland midfielder after the 19-year-old expressed his desire to join Dortmund earlier this week.
Bellingham had been considering his options following Sunderland’s victory over Sheffield United at Wembley, with Eintracht Frankfurt also showing interest.
Dortmund aim to complete the transfer before the window closes on June 10th, allowing Bellingham to feature in their upcoming Club World Cup campaign in the United States.
However, there is a gap between Dortmund’s initial offer of about €25 million and Sunderland’s asking price, which is influenced by a €40 million release clause in Bellingham’s contract.
Both clubs are expected to reach a compromise, likely involving future add-ons to bridge the valuation gap.
Sunderland also intends to secure a substantial sell-on clause, with Birmingham City anticipated to receive roughly 15% of any profit Sunderland makes from the deal.
Sunderland announce first signing of the summer
On Tuesday, Sunderland confirmed their first transfer of the summer by securing Enzo Le Fée on a permanent deal effective July 1st.
Le Fée has agreed to a four-year contract running until the summer of 2029.
