Tottenham Set to Challenge Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo as Thomas Frank Eyes Reunion
Tottenham Hotspur could find themselves in a transfer tussle with Manchester United as Thomas Frank reportedly looks to reunite with one of his Brentford stars—should he be appointed as Spurs’ new manager.
Since confirming the permanent signing of centre-back Kevin Danso from RC Lens, following his loan spell during the winter window, Tottenham have yet to secure any additional new arrivals.
The club also recently activated a one-year extension in Ben Davies’ contract, aiming to retain some experience in the squad ahead of what could be a busy summer.
There’s also uncertainty surrounding Heung-min Son’s future, with Saudi clubs showing interest. However, Tottenham’s transfer activity may largely depend on who steps into the managerial role.
Frank Wants Spurs to Compete with United for Mbeumo
Following Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal, Spurs are preparing for a rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, which will see them return to the UEFA Champions League. Thomas Frank has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Postecoglou and is reportedly already outlining his transfer targets.
According to The Mirror, Frank has urged Tottenham to enter the race for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo—a player Manchester United are also pursuing and hoping to make their second summer signing.
Mbeumo is reportedly valued at £60 million. With Frank expected to be confirmed as Spurs’ new manager in the coming days, it’s believed he is eager to bring the 24-year-old Cameroon international with him to North London.
Wage Offers Could Decide Mbeumo’s Future
Manchester United are believed to have a firm interest in Mbeumo, with reports suggesting that new manager Ruben Amorim has already submitted two bids. The player is thought to be open to a move to Old Trafford.
While United are currently favourites, Tottenham hope their Champions League qualification will help persuade Mbeumo, who has one year left on his contract at Brentford, with an option for an additional year.
However, United have reportedly offered a more attractive wage package—£150,000 per week with add-ons potentially increasing it to £200,000. Spurs’ offer stands at around £130,000 per week including bonuses, falling short of United’s terms.
As a result, Tottenham may need to rely on Frank’s strong relationship with Mbeumo to tip the scales in their favour.
